Day 4: Leading Light

Hey Guys,

I would like you to check out a short video of my last Leading Light event last November in London. It’s such an amazing feeling being able to provide a service for so many SA sufferers, I want all of you to know how it feels and you can. Stick with me :-)

More personal sharing tomorrow.

Day 3: Ex Social Anxiety Sufferer. Help needed with our book on Social Anxiety.

Day 3 of my blog, I’d love your help with my book, I need some of your experiences with SA so other people can relate to you and get something from your sharing. I need about 600-800 words, there’s no right or wrong, just type from the heart, share how long you’ve had SA, how you found out, how you feel etc.

Thanks,

Steve

Day2: Baby Steps – A little bit of homework for you :-)

Hello all,

Please view today’s video below:

Here is the summary:

I have set you a little homework task for today, please go to http://www.social-anxiety.org.uk/groups/list.htm to find a local group in the UK or go to http://shyness.meetup.com and you can search for shyness and SA groups all over the world. Thank god for the internet!

Commit yourself to joining a self help or meet up group and report back here to me with your experiences, it’s the best thing you can do, take the first step now.

If you feel that you are not ready for this step, don’t worry, go to http://www.socialanxietysupport.com or http://www.social-anxiety.org.uk
and look for a buddy who you can chat with and get to know, then perhaps you can go to a group together? If not, then you have a new pen pal.

Remember, don’t beat yourself up if you don’t go at the last minute. It’s fine, there is nothing wrong. If you need support from me, please post here.

Take care

Steve

Welcome to my blog

Hi, my name is Steve Light and I had suffered with social anxiety for all of my life, being an extremely shy kid who found it hard to answer his own name in class, to a young adult who nearly fainted during a college presentation because the anxiety levels were so overwhelming.

I can honestly say that all that is behind me now, people ask, what’s it like not having SA? Do your internal dialogue stop in your head? Are you really outgoing now? The simple response would be that it’s a great feeling, no and no. The internal dialogue is still there, it’s part of human nature, but it doesn’t stop me from doing things any more and it’s not a hindrance. I always thought that when you no longer have SA that you will automatically be outgoing and really loud, no, you are just more like yourself, the way you are supposed to be. Anxiety is not who you are, it’s masking who you really are, remember that.

Please feel free to ask me any questions you like any time, this is a resource for you guys, if you feel down, please send me a message, I’ll answer it as soon as possible.

I will be answering questions from time to time via video, I want it to feel more personal, like i’m speaking to you, not just typing a message. So please ask away.

Take care,

the way you feel is not who you are, nor is it forever. There is a way out and I’m living proof.

Steve
